Freeze caused pipes in attic to burst
This house had a tankless hot water heater in the attic above a 2nd story bedroom. The extreme cold temperatures caused the pipes to freeze.
When the frozen pipes thawed in the attic, it flooded the attic area and caused the ceiling to collapse. This flooded most of the upstairs. The water then flooded nearly all of the downstairs.
Due to the extreme cold and shear volume of houses impacted by the freeze of February 2021, many houses did not receive assistance until days after the burst pipes. Then meant that 4,500 square feet of this 6,000+ sq. ft. home needed to have all of the contents, drywall, flooring, and other materials removed.
